    Positive Outlook

I have been working at The Brattle Group full-time (More than a year)

Best-in-class utilities-sector economic consulting, particularly for regulatory work. Excellent, fast-growing litigation practice, particularly in damages, international arbitration, and finance. Strikes a good balance of work load/intensity and life outside of work, particularly for economic consulting (which can potentially face dreadful hours under poor management). The firm is willing/eager to help its senior consultants develop their future practice. Amazing hiring practices for analysts. Associates (advanced degree consultants) will have the opportunity to work with some of the best analysts imaginable--super smart, dedicated, and efficient.

The firm's antitrust practice needs new blood to stay competitive, particularly in agency work. Time will tell if it succeeds in building this side of the business. The firm needs to rethink and improve its mentoring and guided practice development in the litigation practice (as opposed to the utilities practice, where Brattle's track record in developing consultants into partners is stellar). Eagerness alone won't work here, and the utilities practice model for development may not apply in the litigation practice.

    Advice to Management

For senior consultants, there needs to be a dedicated path for technically skilled staff that will never become revenue generators. The firm is just a hair over the fine line the Up or Out divide.
