I have been working at The Children's Place part-time (More than 5 years)
Flexible schedule if student or mom Employee discount good Co workers are nice Actually gives you a chance if you don't have experience Great job if you stay a year or 2
Pay is too low for what we have to do Floor set is easy but gets updated every other day, company expects us to provide customer service as well as having us finish shipment and floor set along with price changes and markdowns all before the deadline they set. And if we somehow get it done by the dead line they are still unhappy because we didn't get any customers to apply for the credit card. They expect us to make our days and exceed last year numbers yet they always have these crazy coupons everyday so it's hard to make money when customers have 30% coupons and sometimes receive 10 dollars off. Not everyone in the district follow the same rules so we have some customers complain to us that a certain store allows them to return without a receipt or gives them the coupons if they forget making our store seem like the bad guy and getting the customer to vent out and scream at us for following company policy. Want us to be basically like a vulture behind the customer asking them if they are finding everything ok? I feel lik the customers are uncomfortable with us constantly asking them how they are doing.
Advice to Management
This is actually advice to corporate. Be realistic. Try to remember your shopping experiences do you like it when you have people constantly on you after you've told them 3 times everything is ok? Do you enjoy having people offer you the credit card even after you've said no twice already? It seems like you guys forgot how it was to be sales associates. I think they should work as associates a week just to remember how it's like.
