    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at The Gladstone Institutes full-time (More than a year)

The environment of the institute is great. The HR staff is wonderful and supportive.

San Francisco is the mot expensive city in the USA. There are very few spaces in schools and your child can get placed anywhere in the city, without you having a choice at all. I had to home-school, because there was no space in public schools, aside form one school, rated 1/10 (the worst), in a high crime area. People rather move than to send their children there. 2-bedroom apartment is about $4000 per month. Most people commute long distances.

    Advice to Management

I think that the management is doing all they can. Gladstone is associated with UCSF. 1. UCSF needs to offer affordable housing or pay wages that reflect housing costs. 2. UCSF needs to either work with a charter school or in some other way make education accessible to the children of its employees. At this point, I've seen too many excellent candidates decline a job offer because of these two issues. You can apply for UCSF housing lottery. However, the housing is not particularly cheap (very small 2-bedroom is $2400+parking=2600 plus utilities, etc.). You can only stay 2 years in UCSF housing, which is not very helpful unless you are not planning to stay beyond that.
