I have been working at Tyler Technologies full-time (More than a year)
-Good work/like balance. -Attentive management. -Great market share of public sector software, Tylers software sells. -Compensation and benefits are fairly competitive. -Good office culture (Renton office has a game room, foosball tournaments, team lunches, hackathon, relaxed dress code).
-Technology decisions usually revolve around older stacks, engineering leads are not completely aware of the evolving software development ecosystem (if you're looking to develop using that new, bleeding edge NodeJS framework - look elsewhere). -Some projects/teams do not have as much active development as others. -"Silo'ed" culture across various offices. How one office operates does not necessarily correspond with other offices.
Advice to Management
Don't lose sight of the current happenings in the software engineering world. Help engineering leads continue to learn and ensure they are up to the status quo. There are plenty of advances in newer technologies and standards that could be applied to develop better software and make engineers lives easier. Continue to push for a more enjoyable office culture as well. The status quo of culture is shifting in a big way from a "corporate feel" towards a "startup feel". If you want to retain younger employees these two things are imperative to meet.
