I have been working at URS Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

I have been with the company more than 10 years. I started as an entry level engineer and have steadily advanced in responsibility. The work is always challenging and if you apply yourself you will learn new skills as you progress through your career. I have had the opportunity to work with some great colleagues. Like most jobs, you get out of it what you put into it.

It is a really big company and there are a lot of one-size-fits-all decisions made by senior management to please Wall Street. There seems to be a conscious decision by senior management to make this a C+ place to work instead of a B+ place to work. Senior management wants A+ performance, they pay B+ lip service to retention and employee satisfaction initiatives, and they delivery C+ salaries, benefits, and working environment. If senior management read this they would probably pat themselves on the back for accomplishing exactly what they intended. Local office management tries hard to improve retention and job satisfaction, but they have an uphill battle given the impact of corporate decision making.

    Advice to Management

Make this a B+ place to work and you will retain your best staff, improve quality, get more repeat business, and improve the reputation of the company.
