I have been working at University of Florida part-time (More than 3 years)
Tuition waiver and modest stipend. Great weather and nature on campus. Reasonably smart student body. Great library. Teaching workload only 1 day per week, not bad. Rigorous program. Good professors and research.
Bureaucracy is even more rigid than at most universities. Flexibility impossible. Very low pay, especially during summer semester, when pay is cut to half and teaching hours are also doubled or even tripled. Literally zero departmental support for external career opportunities like internships.
Advice to Management
Provide funding for open access publication. Facilitate more interaction between departments, particularly interdisciplinary research. Pay for proctor service instead of making busy grad students do it.
