Verizon Wireless – Warren, NJ
This role will be a Principal Engineer that will evaluate internal and vendor SDN/NFV designs and systems test these systems in a IoT lab and work… Verizon Wireless
I have been working at Verizon Wireless full-time (More than 8 years)
Verizon offers a competitive salary, medical benefits, phone discount, and decent vacation policy. Most individuals are good to work with.
You work non-stop, though I guess this is department depending. Nights, weekends, holidays, vacations...doesn't matter. You are always on call. There's very little work/life balance, and really no way to just shut down. And while the culture was previously strong, you can see that starting to fracture with the recent mass layoffs that were announced. As typically happens with this type of re-org, there's a lot of confusion and dysfunction.
Advice to Management
All employees understand that we are in a competitive environment and that changes are needed. However, you need to re-evaluate how much you are asking from your employees, or else you are going to have a mass exodus from your remaining employees.
