New employees are offered a balance between tax and audit work, which allow associates to learn what they are interested in and grow into a role they like. Training opportunities are plentiful and very useful, associates are allowed to hone their career into fields they prefer. Great work/life balance (for a CPA firm). If you are able to demonstrate ability to handle a busy workload, your schedule becomes much more fluid.
While the diverse workload of the staff allows them to find industries they are interested in, managers and partners are in an eternal struggle for these associate's hours and as a result, staffing jobs can be frustrating. Additionally, the leadership is very cliquey, and if you're not part of the gang, opportunities become limited.
Advice to Management
Performance reviews and pay increases should occur at the same time. The fact that they are not makes it seem like raises and performance are not linked.
