I have been working at XL Catlin full-time (More than a year)
Good company culture that emphasizes innovation and collaboration. People trust each other. The environment is laid back, but with high expectations for performance. Not a lot of micromanagement- You do good work because you like your coworkers and because you want to see the company succeed. There are opportunities for relatively junior employees to make real contributions. Generally good communication and collaboration across departments/offices. Employees are valued. Great 401k match, most managers flexible about hours and work from home, very strong actuarial study program (raises, study time). Awesome CEO.
Data systems. Lack of structure around actuarial rotation program and training. Not as much transparency as there could be around pay, bonuses, job titles, etc. Some groups are very tight about expenses.
Advice to Management
Overall, I am very optimistic about the future of XL Catlin. For the most part, keep doing what you're doing, and listen to employees' feedback.
