Assistant Manager of Licensing Compliance
Remote (CST/EST Preferred)
$26–32/hour
Overview
Assistant Manager of Licensing Compliance oversees daily licensing operations and supports the Licensing team through guidance, quality control, and issue resolution. This role ensures licensing work is accurate, timely, and consistent, enabling the Licensing Compliance Manager to focus on strategy and growth.
This position is ideal for someone who has worked in fast-paced, highly regulated environments and can balance compliance, deadlines, and team coordination while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day licensing workflow, prioritization, and task distribution
- Review licensing submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Support team members with complex or escalated licensing cases
- Serve as the first point of escalation before issues reach management
- Maintain and improve licensing processes, documentation, and standards
- Track workload, timelines, and bottlenecks across jurisdictions
- Support onboarding and training of new Licensing team members
- Identify process gaps and recommend scalable improvements
- Ensure accountability and follow-through across the team
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of municipal and state licensing processes, ideally within highly regulated or compliance-driven industries
- Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience (team lead, supervisor, or assistant manager level)
- Experience overseeing or coordinating the work of others in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and follow-through
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional coordination
- Ability to problem-solve under time pressure
- Detail-oriented with a strong quality-control mindset
- Demonstrated ownership of work from start to finish
Preferred Experience
- Background in highly regulated or high-risk industries such as:
- Cannabis
- Gaming / casinos
- Firearms / FFL
- Alcohol / liquor licensing
- Financial services or lending
- Pawn or secondhand goods
- Other compliance-heavy industries
- Experience with:

- Zoning, permitting, or municipal code interpretation
- Regulatory audits, inspections, or compliance reviews
- High-volume licensing or renewal environments
