    Job Description:

    • Designs layout of sprinkler systems using AutoCAD/HydraCAD/Revit programs
    • Maintains current knowledge of NFPA 13 by attending seminars and conferences
    • Document and communicate any fire protection issues with FVFS management and fire inspectors
    • Reviews construction contract documents and collaborates with general contractors/owners to gather the required information to design the project’s sprinkler system
    • Performs field surveys and identify code issues and solutions
    • Attends coordination and job progress meetings
    • Creates fabrication/stock listing for system components and purchase materials throughout project
    • Monitors progress and financial metrics throughout project ensuring compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines
    • Prepares and distributes material equipment, hydraulic calculations and close out procedures/O&M manuals, as necessary, to AHJ’s/owners/architects/engineers/insurance companies
    • Coordinates with Sprinkler department within office to ensure proper handoff of job information
    • Develops and maintains positive relationships with customer to ensure FVFS meets customer expectations
    • Maintains the ability to be self-motivated and prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
    • Identifies changes in project scope that impact cost, schedule and labor
    • Creates and submits change orders in a timely manner
    • Preserves communication and cooperation with Fox Valley Fire and Safety staff, trains junior staff as needed
    • Follows Fox Valley Fire and Safety policies and procedures
    • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

    Job Requirements:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Fire Sprinkler Design
    • NICET III Water-Based Systems Layout is required
    • Must be local to general Chicagoland area
    • Experience with AutoCAD/HydraCAD/Revit
    • Navis Simulate and/or BIM coordination is preferred
    • Customer oriented interpersonal skills
    • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must possess strong organizational skills
    • Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative
    • Must be able to exercise effective time management skills (prioritize, work on a time line, meeting deadlines)
    • Ability to read, interpret, and prepare engineered drawings, specifications, and schematics
    • Technical, electronic, and mechanical knowledge and abilities
    • Ability to work in a team environment with a focus on expanding customer satisfaction, department growth and personal / professional growth
    • Occasional overtime as needed
    • Strong focus on attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality

      Insurance isn’t the best pricing I think they could get. PTO is aligned in the beginning but takes a long time to accrue more. They do a 401k match to certain percentage.
