Lor-Ron optical within the Eye Consultants of PA, have an exciting opportunity of an Optician Technician in our Wyomissing office. This on the job training will eventually have a paid certification at no cost to the employee.
1. Customer Service
Standards and Goals
· Greet patients in a friendly, timely manner.
· Answer phones and assist patients as necessary.
· Assess the customer’s optical needs.
· Evaluate prescriptions in conjunction with clients’ vocational and avocational visual requirements.
· Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit client needs.
· Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.
· Measure clients bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes using measuring devices.
· Instruct clients in how to wear and care for eyeglasses.
2. Sales
Standards and Goals
· Sell products to include spectacles, sunglasses and other related goods.
· Ability to explain pricing clearly and work within confinement of client’s budget if possible.
· Order and purchase frames and lenses.
3. Administrative
Standards and Goals
· Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare guidelines.
· Knowledge of accepted insurance plans and the proper billing procedures.
· Billing of insurance companies for lenses and spectacles.
· Understand and explain any warranties and office policies.
4. Opticians Working in Satellite Offices
Standards and Goals
· Meet with frame representatives to exchange information about product availability and alternatives.
· Assist difficult patients without a manager present.
· Ensure office is opened every day on time and management is aware if there are any delays.
· Work with physicians and ECoP Office Managers to ensure the office efficiency.
Qualifications
1. High School graduate or GED.
2. ABO certification within 3 years of employment. Will train the right candidate to attain this certification.
3. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
2. Clerical – Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
