The ONLY this positive about this company would be the commission plan on paper. Looks good on paper, but that's about it! Almost impossible to make make commissions, but if you can wait a year, then it's ok.
Where to start? Just about every area within this company is mis-managed. 1. Comp plan..... Have to wait until services are installed, if you can wait anywhere from 6-9 months for install, then you have a chance to earn commissions. I have seen installs take OVER 1year to install fiber ( and this is suppose to be their bread and butter !! ) 2. Account assignments: Now this is a joke!!! If you are lucky enough to find a account that can put up with the slow install process, then watch out, the Senior Acct exec II reps will go poaching and say the account is too big for you and try to take it from you. And the managers will go right along with it. You can say bye bye to the account. In fact when a Senior Acct exec can say "I can make any account a Senior Account customer, then you have no chance of winning. So many accounts are kept under the table, that honesty and integrity and out the window. The only way some Senior Acct reps can make it is to "churn" accounts thru a reseller. Basically, take a existing account and have a reseller go after the account, then " transfer" ( sell the same service to the reseller for the same customer at the same location) disconnect the existing service and install the same service as new under the resellers account. The rep , manager and senior managers love it, because everybody gets paid on old business as "new revenue". Nice way to make over $200k and looking like a king or queen without prospecting...... 3. Management is a joke..... If you we're lucky enough to even have a manager that knew something, then they got burned out trying to fight the BS of trying to get things installed or watching only 2 - 3 reps in the office make money skimming the top for accounts they couldn't get on their own, after that they just left for a better opportunity. The ones left were puppets of the local senior management and only knew how to sit in their office and play solitaire or on Facebook while yet another install crisis develops. All along , just pressuring reps to preform without ANY real help from their manager. If you didn't, that's ok, then your forced out, while they just bring in a new rep to pressure while they sit back and do nothing. 4. Service delivery, is difficult at best Orders sit on people's desk for weeks without any review or management Can't deliver on any promises to the customer, unless it becomes a crisis , then only then do you have a 50% it will get installed on schedule. Delivery schedules have to be the longest in the industry, and they still can't deliver!
Advice to Management
You need to look at your churning problem, more accounts are moved under the table then you would like to admit. Yet you keep posting great numbers to Wall Street. Local and Middle management are a joke, and are costing you good people and business. However , since the business model looks like you pay low salaries, with the hope of getting business and if only pay if it installs and the employee just gets tired of the problems and they leave, then you don't have to pay commissions, then you doing just great! Open your eyes, the only thing working is that only the upper management are making any money and the local reps have to fight daily and have to work with middle managers that don't know what to do , or really don't care.... Because you are replaceable.
