    Job Summary:
    Bucknell University's Department of Art & Art History invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in Photography beginning in August 2024 for a 10-month appointment. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate photography courses during the academic year, including courses that combine photography with moving media. The ideal candidate will be able to teach in a liberal arts environment and contribute to the interdisciplinary vibrancy of the Department. Candidates are expected to have an MFA in Photography and related Media (or related field) by the start of the appointment. The position is a 3/3 teaching load and courses to be taught by the candidate include undergraduate photography courses, from entry level to advanced, as well as courses in the candidate's field of specialization.

    Job Duties:

    The successful candidate will reinforce the strengths of a department committed to diversity, equity, and global awareness, while making interdisciplinary connections across the University with dynamic pedagogies. We welcome candidates who have the ability and interest in contributing to a student-centered community, respect pluralism and individual differences, and embrace flexibility and teamwork.

    The successful candidate will teach a wide range of photographic processes, from digital photography and video to analog photography and/or other processes to majors and non-majors. They must demonstrate a commitment to using current and emerging technologies in the classroom, as appropriate. Other duties will include organizing and overseeing the photographic digital and analog darkrooms, supplies, equipment and health and safety procedures/policies; advising students on departmental curricula and career goals as related to the visual arts; and participating in the organization and curation of student work for the Annual Student Show at the end of the academic year.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:
    • An MFA degree in photography or related field
    • Experience in both digital and analog photography is required.
    • College-level teaching experience is preferred.

    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
