I worked at Avalon Health Care full-time (Less than a year)
Decent benefits package, including PTO and insurance. A few very nice people... note the use of the word "few".
HIGH TURNOVER!!! HIGH USE OF AGENCY!!! CHAOTIC!!! They can't keep floor nurses for very long, so they use agency nurses who aren't invested and who don't know what their responsibilities are, and it makes the place an awful mess, and patient care suffers as a result - dressings don't get changed, people don't get pain meds for hours, wound vacs don't get put on, stat orders wouldn't get processed for days. They also couldn't keep people in key positions like Director of Nursing, MDS coordinator, and Unit Manager - they were using "Travellers" to fill these important positions, and again, it makes for a shoddy environment. There is A LOT OF GOSSIP, and the moral can be very low as a result. Of course, some people like it there, and more power to them, but I think of the 5 or so SNFs I have worked at, it's the worst one. I am anticipating that state will come in there one day and might shut the place down for a while. Hopefully they get their act together. I would wait on applying there until they do.
