I have been working at Bechtel Plant Machinery full-time (More than 5 years)
I worked at several non-profits prior to joining BPMI, and I have the same "I'm doing something meaningful" feeling working at BPMI. (The upside is that the pay is considerably better than what non-profits can offer.) The atmosphere is positive, the people I work with are friendly and helpful, and the company organizes a variety of events throughout the year (picnics, outings, etc., not to mention sports clubs and volunteer opportunities) that give us time to get to know each other outside the office. Benefits are great (not many companies have what's the equivalent of a pension anymore), the amount of vacation time is awesome, and the 9/80 work schedule (mentioned by several other reviews) lets me stretch my paid time off even further. My manager schedules regular career discussions with me throughout the year, and because I'm not interested in a manager position (it's a work-life balance thing for me), she focuses on making sure my work scope offers variety to keep me engaged. (Of course I have routine work that takes up part of my work week.)
Cell phones aren't allowed in the office. (I was nervous about cutting the digital tie when I first started, but now I love not having the distraction of texts and FB notifications. And, surprise! My family can still reach me via my desk phone, should they need to.) Much of the training (there is a lot) for new employees is pretty technical - valuable to those in technical roles, but a little over my head as a business professional. Because of the nature of work BPMI does, we're unable to use some newer apps and technology that other companies can take advantage of. This requires work-arounds that can be inefficient or just inconvenient.
Advice to Management
Encourage all managers to have regular career discussions with their employees (and to take action based on these discussions). Find projects that add variety to their work week, and then give them the time they need to complete them. Get to know your employees personally - it's the people that make a job enjoyable and difficult to leave - so you can make sure their role is manageable within the scope of their personal life.

I applied through college or university. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at Bechtel Plant Machinery (Monroeville, PA) in September 2017.
It was a thorough interview process but it was expected for what security clearance you have pass. The initial interview was around 5 hours long. Then you have to wait for security clearnence to clear
