I worked at Boscov's full-time (More than a year)
Awesome customers, friendly bossess and managers. Very good boscovs family vibe.
They fired me when I had surgery for my disability. Also very few non whites working in the store on the floor, they complain about Spanish speakers, and accents. My coworker told me they need to build the wall so they stop coming to her failing counter. Told my boss, the woman left for a week. Mostly foreigners and blacks working labor.
Advice to Management
Stop hiring your friends. Hire more 2nd language speakers to work on the floor. Take the bizarre comments and rude jokes seriously. They continue when you walk away. And customers hear them. I heard a coworker say she hates working with the deaf.
Stop harassing employees for your numbers. Especially when you couldn't do their job yourself.
And don't make me tell Jim how you send the racists home when he comes by.

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Boscov's (Frederick, MD) in February 2016.
I applied online on a weekday, was called within the week to schedule an interview, had my interview the following Monday, and was offered the job that Friday. Process was very quick, and the interview itself was probably the easiest I've been to retail-wise. My impression was that if you have any prior retail experience, which I did, you will likely get the job. I was asked very typical, simple interview questions, and the interview was very casual and low-pressure. My one qualm is that the full duties of the job were not made clear to me during the interview or the official job offer. In contrast to my previous retail experiences, Boscov's doesn't have a separate stockroom staff, so "retail sales associates" fulfill that role in addition to sales floor work (at least in my location). Just something to keep in mind if you're looking for something less labor intensive.
