I worked at Central Garden & Pet full-time (More than 8 years)
Pros
Great group of people to work with within IT
Interesting work and excellent learning/growth opportunities
Competitive pay
Cons
Too much complexity across the organization (new CEO is actively working to simplify things)
Talent management is a bit relaxed, meaning that occasionally a subpar performer is allowed to hang on for far too long
Advice to Management
For the most part, keep doing what you are doing. However, focus on driving out complexity and remove poor performers more quickly (poor performers at every level from Sr. Executive down to entry-level)
Application
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Central Garden & Pet (Schaumburg, IL) in April 2013.
Interview
I was interviewed by the HR manager then my boss. The HR manager pretty much walked me through my resume very sweet and simple. My boss asked me more in-depth knowledge on my future job.
