I have been working at Davis Vision full-time (More than a year)
2 weeks vacation, all paid holidays, 6 personal days, 10 sick days a year. All paid. Double time and a half if you work the day after Thanksgiving. Double time and a half if you work a half day on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Weekends off.
Unlimited overtime potential at time and a half. If you want to work 44 hours in a week, fine. If you want to work 60 hours in a week, also fine. If you just want to work your 40, that's ok too. It's the best overtime I've seen where you can work as many hours as you really want.
It's a union environment so once you're past probation, it's really difficult to get fired.
- You can't have your cell phone out.
- People steal lunches out of the fridge so you need to bring an insulated bag and keep your lunch at your desk.
- Promotions go by seniority, not necessarily who would be best at the job. So you have to wait for your turn.
Advice to Management
Everything is working out pretty well in this location. Nothing is perfect, but I do plan on working here as long as possible.

I applied online. I interviewed at Davis Vision (Latham, NY).
Initial phone screen was 15 minutes. I was called on-site after that.
They gave me a brief tour of IT department. All the people were nice. Interview had 4 rounds which included a technical round - I had to write couple of methods. The interview questions seemed to be taken from some website.
I had a positive experience overall.
Wasnt able to negotiate.
