I worked at FindLaw full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Huge advantage in the legal vertical with one of the oldest players online. Fun place to work with very nice people. Great benefits here too.

    Cons

Major issue is that it is part of Thomson Reuters - i.e. big company. You get great benefits, but also lots of bureaucracy and red tape. So many levels of review. A little bit stuffy too just due to the legal nature of the company. Some very old school Engineering going on here, which may have changed since I left.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving this business forward and take more risks. Work outside your current engineering framework and empower people to own products.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at FindLaw (Sunnyvale, CA) in August 2011.

    Interview

Contacted by a recruiter via LinkedIn. Had phone interview for 1 hour with recruiter. General SEO knowledge.

1 hour follow-up phone interview with manager. Very intense. Must know industry in and out.

2.5 hour in-person interview. Met with multipple team members. Varying questions.

    Interview Questions

    • I wouldn't say I had difficult questions, but you should have years of experience and the knowledge to prove it.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

No much. They came in the lower part of my range but I was dying to get out of the job I was in.
