I have been working at GE Power (More than 10 years)
If I did not love it I would not have stayed as long as I have. GE demands your best. In return they will give you their best, which is considerable. GE is a huge company with so many benefits to enrich your life and your career. Travel, salary, relationships, flexibility are all at your fingertips if you are willing to earn them!
Since GE is so large it can be a daunting place and hard to find your niche. Sometimes if you do not start with GE it is hard to come up thru the ranks unless you work harder and longer than everyone else. It can be done but requires extra effort than the ones who came right out of college thru the programs.
Advice to Management
Mentor all employees...not just the ones that "grew up" in GE. Good ideas come from everyone and should be promoted in the same way.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at GE Power (Houston, TX).
I was interviewed for this position over 17 years ago and process could be changed quite a bit during these years. There were 4 people involved in the interview process: a human resource manager, general engineering manger, mechanical engineering manager and application engineering manager
