I have been working at Genentech full-time (More than 10 years)
Genentech is the best company I have ever worked for! They treat their employees very well. The benefits, are fantastic. I unfortunately had to go out on short term disability for a few months and I received full pay, benefits, and a lot of support from management during this time. The leadership team and managers are forward thinking and are very approachable. You are encouraged to communicate and share your ideas or concerns with ANY of the members of the leadership team, not just your own manager, unlike at other companies I have worked for in the industry. Genentech hires extremely smart people. Genentech is a highly ethical company whose focus is always on doing the right thing for the patients.
Since Roche bought Genentech in 2009 a lot of Roche-like changes have taken place many of which were meant to streamline processes however it made some processes much more difficult and inefficient.
Advice to Management
Since the field based sales organization does not all live on the west coast it would be equitable if sales meetings alternated coasts each year as was years ago.

I applied online. I interviewed at Genentech (Boston, MA) in September 2016.
End of the day. Interviewers lacked energy and interest. Very pro forma.
Interviewers simply were going through the motions. One of the two yawned throughout the Q&A. The hiring Manager appeared intimidated by my age (I am of the Boomer generation).
