I have been working at General Dynamics Information Technology full-time (More than 3 years)
In my particular role, I am able to see both strengths and opportunity areas throughout GDIT. This will be an honest review.
As an HR professional, I am a "picky" employee, and cannot work for an employer that lacks empathy for their work force - More than money or benefits, an employer who does not care for their employees would ask me to take employment actions that compromise my core values. I have been very impressed from the beginning with the structure and resources that are provided to GDIT employees. It helps me sleep at night.
I love that GDIT has structured, balanced and consistent review of personnel matters that helps me feel comfortable making day to day work decisions. No matter what, I feel confident in saying that GDIT employees are treated fairly.
I love that the majority of GDIT managers are willing to look thoughtfully at the employee's needs to assist them in becoming successful in their role.
ELT is engaged in promoting diversity and inclusion by sponsoring training for their people managers.
GDIT has multiple resources for employees to own their career to include LMS, tuition assistance, and internal mobility.
I have been impressed with our President, Amy Gilliland, and our other ELT members responsiveness and caring demeanor during COVID-19 pandemic. Mental Health wellness seminars are routinely offered. In addition, as our homes became our work places, a sad uptick in Domestic Violence became a factor in employees lives. Our managers, and HR team was provided training on how to handle domestic violence. GDIT has two certified victim advocates on staff.
My particular team is fantastic. I am afforded the ability to work remotely. I was provided the appropriate equipment and tools to perform my job responsibilities.
GDIT has great benefits - IMO. Perhaps I am easy to please in this area, but I have been happy with my insurance and my premiums since day one. I can't say that all of my colleagues feel the same. In addition to H&W benefits, GDIT offers education, discount programs, EAP, and many more.
-401K match could be better.
-Increased PTO. I am satisfied, but I hear others complain.
-Compensation for some roles is below market - again, I am not complaining but have heard others complain.
-Increase communication regarding Employee Resource Groups to those on programs with limited to no access to GDIT email. I cannot tell you how many tenured employees I have spoken to who have no knowledge of our resource groups. Some have gone through challenging life situations and those resource groups would have helped them. In addition, I have had employees, on program, who did not know about our ERG's. So this is an opportunity area.
-Impress upon your leadership from the L2, L3 level down about the importance of work life balance.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you are doing! I have been so impressed with the positive culture shift since I began working for GDIT. It takes time, but I think we are headed in the right direction.
Otherwise, look at the market to review compensation, and 401K match. :)

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at General Dynamics Information Technology (Washington, DC) in April 2020.
Straight-forward interview. More technical questions vs. situational/personal. Make sure you you can vouch for everything listed on your resume. Interview was a series of back-to-back questions to verify my knowledge. The entire process was roughly 30 or so minutes. Beginning of the interview was a run-down of the company, what they do/handle, why I want to work for GDIT, tell me about your background, etc. Make sure you have some questions to ask about the company. Just make sure you know your stuff.
