I worked at Hawthorne Gardening Company full-time (More than a year)
Easy work, if you just do your tasks and what you are supposed to do the day goes by easily. It's not hard to mess up your job duties, picking your items and wrapping.
People for the most part are friendly and everyone gets along.
Management has his family members as some of the leads. Not a big problem but when it comes to accountability it becomes an issue. This makes for a uneasy work environment. Employees are unable to talk to anyone about any problems they might have, and if you do and any of the leads are the culprits they will never accept the blame or get written up. They have immunity and also were promoted when other more qualified individuals were passed up and it has lowered moral significantly. Also since there was no incentive or path to any other higher position, it made a lot of great people leave and it made work harder as we had to deal with people quitting suddenly who were great at their job and we had to pick up the pace and pieces.
Moral is pretty low there and people come and go because they are not motivated to stay. It's not hard work but the way things are ran and management make it a miserable work environment.
Another great example was a christmas party, we were supposed to have a christmas party and then it was suddenly cancelled. Then we received Tv's from a truck company I think and we were supposed to have a raffle if we came in on time every day we would get a ticket a week. Well that changed to one ticket for the entire month and then at the end after christmas we found out who one and to noone's surprise it was one of the manager's and leads, but then we looked at the manager's office and the entire roll of tickets for the raffle were still in there, in tact and unopened. It was no surprise but it was kinda a big bummer for everyone.
