    Pros

Great product line ranging from carbon fiber to prepreg to part production for Boeing, Airbus, Spirit, Orbital ATK, Bell etc. New plant and existing plant growth (22+ plants globally) has been very good and there are some very knowledgeable good people there.

    Cons

HEXCEL has had heavy growth thanks to Airbus and a good product But salaries are consistently lower than the industry regardless of the job and location around the world and there is no desire to rectify it.
People are forced to work overtime whether hourly or salary as more work and projects are assigned to an already over burdened workforce. But HEXCEL has historically and repeatedly not wanted to hire more people when they are unsure of the European economy especially since this is a highly technical and specialized industry.
HEXCEL implemented IT solutions 7-8 yrs to facilitate Office Communicator conference calls globally internally and externally to reduce travel costs and time.
Unfortunately something was lost without the occasional face to face.
    - Maintaining relationships and building relationships which brings Trust
    - Accountability ensuring that the persons on the other side completely understand and will honor their commitments
    - Providing support and training and ensuring the support is compatible and understandable to the benefactor regardless of country and language
      - this means verifying the best people who really need the support and training are receiving it
HEXCEL became a "matrix" management organization which means you can and will have a solid line chain of command 1 direction PLUS a dotted line chain of command that is just as important. This adds to the increased workload plus also makes it more difficult getting things organized, completed and understand ding which boss has priority!

    Advice to Management

HEXCEL makes good product and will always attract new employees and customers.
But knowing the salaries are lower than the industry standard regardleas of the job and country demonstrates a lack of respect for the employees.
Company Christmas parties, picnics and finally implementing an employee stock purchase plan does not make up for low salaries, lower than cost of living increases and increased workloads.
And being a Matrix management organization this slows the process to get things completed plus knowing which boss and group has priority. I believe those dotted and solid lines still add to the lack of accountability and trust.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hexcel (Salt Lake City, UT) in April 2018.

    Interview

Applied online and was first rejected from the position but was later contacted about interviewing. First was a 30-minute phone interview with basic qualification questions. Was invited to interview in final round at SLC facility. Had dinner with 3 other candidates, hiring manager, HR representatives, and recent program graduates the night before the site visit and interview day. Gave a 15 minute technical presentation to small group of engineers, HR representatives, and hiring manager with questions afterward. Then had two separate interviews with four people each going through list of STAR method (specific situation, task, action, and result) questions relating to previous projects. One of the interviews seemed more relaxed than the other. Ended with wrap-up and quick response to candidates about offers (two business days later).
