I have been working at MobilityWare as a contractor (Less than a year)
I have worked at four other game companies in the area and this is easily the best!
With over 100 people, there is always someone new to meet.
Individual team size is small so you have more of an influence on the product.
No crunch time, employees have personal lives and maintain relationship with their families.
Nice people, having a good time making games.
Unlimited personal time off, as long as you are reasonable.
An amazing kitchen with a soda fountain, espresso machine, bagels, and chips all free.
They send employees on a company vacation once per year.
Competitive salary and perks.
Games subject matter can be boring, like card games and slot machines.
Still using Microsoft Outlook for email and calendars, and restrict internet access.
An open office floor plan, there is little privacy and colds go around, but the desks are a good size.
Still figuring out the best software development practices, but open to improvements.
Advice to Management
Try and hire more Women so its 50/50.
I applied online. I interviewed at MobilityWare (Irvine, CA) in April 2017.
I will start by saying I didn't receive an offer but I wish I would have. The panels that interviewed me were smart and made me feel welcome. When I got to their office 20 minutes early Devina from the recruiting team walked me around and offered me ice cream before 9am. Of course I want to work here!
One of the interview panels asked me a questions that I knew I wasn't going to be able to solve and still haven't been able to solve. I wonder if this is a trick question?
I got a call a few days later from Devina the recruiter to update me on my status. I have never had someone tell me they aren't going to offer me a job no nicely. I think this is still why I want to work there. I sent thank you emails to the team and most of them responded which isn't normal. Everyone was awesome. When I get more experience I am going to come back strong looking for a job!
