I have been working at Room & Board full-time (More than 3 years)
Pay and benefits exceed the industry standard. Co-workers really strive to help each other out on the job. Equipment is new, and the company provides uniforms etc. Drivers are salaried employees, with OT.
Trucks are new, all automatic. No need to worry about driving a manual transmission. Room & Board does a good job of scheduling maintenance to make sure trucks are running well.
Three weeks of vacation and insurance benefits from day 1 are a nice perk. Strong 401k match and a new profit sharing program insure that all employees have an opportunity to prepare for the future.
The work can be hard some days. Lots of heavy lifting involved in all types of weather. Colder days aren’t fun.
Not much movement within the company.

I applied online. I interviewed at Room & Board (Chicago, IL) in April 2015.
Applied online, then had a phone interview with an hr associate in MN. She was very nice and we had a 20 minute conversation. I was advanced to go interview at the store. The interview was fairly low key but she did ask specifics on past work experiences and made sure the retail hours (evenings and weekends) and pay range were going to work for me.
