I worked at San Antonio State Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed my job and my co-workers and all the lives I was able to touch and help and all of the training I was able to receive.

    Cons

My job was fairly new so we were sort of making it up as we went along and some people wanted to continue to do things the traditional way.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at San Antonio State Hospital (San Antonio, TX) in November 2014.

    Interview

As a nursing student in Kaplan college, we had an opportunity to tour the state hospital and learn more about mental health and the patients. The lady the did the tour gave us the history of the hospital and the history of how patients with mental health were treated. The "tour" was like a interview because she stated the benefits of being employed as a LVN in the hospital, which included student loan forgiveness, health insurance, and paid/sick leave. She also mentioned several times that they are hiring LVN's. Which also made it look like they are desperate to hire and in need. She also gave us some papers that has the detailed history of the hospital and information on how to apply for a job.
