I have been working at Schnitzer Steel full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Mostly really good people working hard. Leaders are smart, caring and know the scrap industry. The scrap industry is short of good employees to run the business as many are going to retire in the next 10-15 years.
Cons
Metals are cyclical and global markets are tough.
Advice to Management
Keep going. Can't make everyone happy, no company can.

Application
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Schnitzer Steel (Sacramento, CA) in June 2010.
Interview
Interviewed with Regional Manager, the overalls should have been a dead give away. He spent more time talking about himself then actually interviewing. Openly admitted to being racist towards african americans. Actually used the word "spook" twice. Enough said

Reasons for Declining
Would not work for a racist.
