I have been working at Slalom full-time (More than a year)
Slalom is the type of company that respects a family first attitude. You are always trusted to make the best decisions for you at work. When you come in or work from home for example. Slalom focuses on doing outcome based work which means you should never be stuck warming a chair and instead be part of the team coming up with solutions for the client, building those solutions and then handing off the application to the client. This is a top notch company and working here is a privilege. Without doubt this is the best place I have ever worked in my life and have no clue where I would go if I were to leave.
For people who love heads down coding this is not the job for you. You are also a consultant at Slalom and a lot of times need to do consulting.
Advice to Management
Continue working on communication. Sometimes leadership will move forward with planning things that effect the people working with the clients. They will invite people to come but not put much time into making sure people actually have the time to come. If they were more dedicated to getting consultants involved they could find out who wants to come and then plan the meeting around their schedules.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Slalom (Saint Louis, MO) in December 2015.
Slalom initially reached out on LinkedIn. We set up phone call to get to know company since I had never heard of them in St. Louis. After the call set time to meet Recruiter at a coffee shop near her hotel, then had a second meeting with one of Slalom's regional directors. After that has calls with two people who had growth their careers at Slalom in a similar capacity so I could better understand growth, expectations, and culture. My last call was with the person I might be reporting to. He has just accepted a role and wanted the chance to talk with me. I really appreciated the opportunity to talk with so many people and get so many perspectives!
