I worked at SpotOn full-time (More than a year)
In the Chicago office, the boss/ceo is someone who has a heart for his employees. Any time I needed to run out of the office for family/personal emergencies, he would personally message me asking if there is anything he can do to help the cause. Never have I had a boss who had genuine worry for the employees life.
You will work on a varied of products with a fun and engaging team. The office is flexible on work hours and off days.
There is an awesome gym in the building and there are free lunches every Friday.
The company is growing and with that come new challenges.
Working at SpotOn is what you make it. Like all work places, if you go in with a bad attitude you make the office environment toxic. There are things that need improvement at SpotOn but this is not unique to any single company.
Advice to Management
They are on their way to being great. Keep hiring employees that have great skills in communication and able to handle their composure.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at SpotOn (Chicago, IL) in June 2017.
First, an hour-long phone screen discussing my technical background, and details about the position/company tech-stack. Then, a technical on-site interview lasting 2-3 hours. During the on-site, I was asked to whiteboard a basic architecture for a Bitly-like app. Second, was the live coding interview where I was asked a series of technical questions that any competent developer should be able to do. The questions included simple operations like unique-ifying an array, counting words in a string, and using closures. The interviewers were very helpful when I ran into trouble and encouraged me to ask questions and talk through my solution.
