Employees rate Palo Alto 6.4% higher than the overall average
I have been working at The Shade Store full-time (More than a year)
The Shade Store does a solid job at showing its appreciation towards both employees and customers. The things we do daily for customers behind the scenes blows me away. On the employee front, we're regularly asked for feedback from the company founders (in regards to anything and everything) and they actually respond -- often the same day.
For the Design Consultant position, your coworkers will be leaders from whatever field they were in before, and you're expected to be a leader as well.
This definitely drives you to continually step up your game and makes for an environment of daily learning.
Company is growing fast and hard, bringing the expected growing pains to go with. This will probably never end, and it shouldn't with any company that is constantly challenging itself. (It's more of a caveat than con, really.)
Benefits and scheduling could be better, particularly when it comes to vacation time and showroom hours. Once decent vacation wipes out your time for the year. Would be amazing if local showrooms had control of the hours for holidays based off their local traffic.
Advice to Management
Continue to focus and expand on the customer experience.
Continue to further develop a coaching and/or training program for Design Consultants. Our backgrounds are varied and training needs to be ongoing, formalized, and organized.
