I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at US Department of Veterans Affairs (East Orange, NJ) in March 2021.
Interview process was easy, they asked basic questions about my work history and my achievements. Asked me to describe myself, my strengths and weaknesses; and basically explained what the job consists.
Apparently they are short staffed and want you to also help out in other departments once you’re fully trained but for the location I applied to it was in East Orange, NJ.
Took them about 4-5 months just to get back to me to state that I could get an interview.
Once I got on the phone with HR and passes the background check and everything. They basically pulled a bait and switch and DIDNT offer what was posted on the application. Application states between 42k-52k annually, and was told that I wasn’t qualified (with a degree in PR, and 3 years of office experience) and they low balled me at 32k.
Hr specialist tried to state that he has no reason as to why I wasn’t qualified just that I wasn’t and couldn’t give me an exact answer. Told him that I’m looking for something more because that offer is obviously lower than what I make per year already.
Stated that if he can’t get me offer more for what I’m looking for I’m not interested in less pay.
