Company Updates

  • Last month the UX Club at UVU came onsite to our Draper campus. After a tour of the building and lunch at our 20/20 Grille, our design team led them through a short design challenge with our mobile app. The session was incredibly valuable, and it was so great getting to collaborate with these talented individuals! #uxdesign #uvu

  • With the month drawing to an end, we reflect back on this quarter’s Live for the Impossible event with pride. Being able to work for a company that is willing to dedicate two full days each quarter to self-directed innovation is pretty amazing. Investing in our people and their passions continues to be an integral part of our culture and DNA. There were over a dozen associate-driven ideas this quarter, and it was awesome seeing what they were able to achieve.

    We want to thank all of our associates that participated and poured their hearts into their projects. A special shout-out to our winners, Kirk Graves (Most Impactful to the Business), Tyler Winzenried and Jenny Walsh (Most Creative), and Mike Curtis (Best Presentation). From our tech-focused efforts to our beautiful, new mural, we’d say this round was another success!

    I have been working at 1-800 CONTACTS full-time (More than 10 years)


    I work in the IT department at 1-800 Contacts. We are doing some exciting things. The pros are:
    1. Constantly improving and searching for a better way to use technology to improve our customer experiences.
    2. Working with great people who are passionate about technology.
    3. Opportunity to contribute directly to the company and quickly see the results of those contributions in better customer satisfaction or conversion. Great partnership with other dept. in the organization.
    4. Amazing restaurant with great food so I don't have to worry about lunch or breakfast. Just order and pick it up at a significantly discounted price.
    5. Fitness center with programs that help me be healthier, and free personal trainers.
    6. Ability to disrupt the vision industry.
    7. Great work life balance.
    8. Fun company events.


    Not a fan of this years IT holiday party, but that is just a personal preference.

    Advice to Management

    Keep innovating and driving industry disruption.

    I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at 1-800 CONTACTS (Draper, UT) in April 2019.


    Quick assessment test in a private room on the computer to evaluate computer competency followed by a building tour and introduction to the interviewer. They then had me shadow a call center agent to allow opportunity for pointed question development and finished with a one on one interview with the team lead I would be working for.
