“There are SO many things that friends and family are jealous of about my job here at 1-800 CONTACTS. The onsite restaurant, the fitness center, the extensive wellness program, free breakfast, free movies during the film festivals, an elaborate summer party, and all the incredible events put on make this company so much fun to work for. I tell everyone I associate with that I have my dream job, and I do.” --Joleen Glassett, Health & Wellness Program Coordinator

“1-800 CONTACTS utilizes middle management very well. The heart and soul of the company is a group of smart, creative thinkers who just get things done. The Executive Leadership team relies on the Managers and Associate Directors to make decisions and execute ideas without having to be micro-managed. Few companies have a core team that compliments the Executive Leadership team so well.” --Molly Zarbock, Associate Controller

“The thing I like most about 1-800 CONTACTS are my coworkers. They make coming to work every day enjoyable and it’s great to be a part of something where everyone understands and is working towards the same goals.” --Eric Farmer, Marketing Manager

“The Film Festivals and big parties constantly surprise my family and friends. Most people see their work places as a paycheck and nothing more. This company has a real family feel. I belong to something bigger than myself or my immediate responsibilities.        --Brenna Minor, Reception

“I was actually going to turn down the offer because I really liked the company where I was at. However, three different people in 1-800 management called me and asked if I had any questions, and showed more interest in me as a person than I had ever received at my old company. I would say that this has remained true, that 1-800 cares more about their employees than the majority of the companies out there. I have had other opportunities and offers, but have stayed almost 10 years now because of how I am treated, taken care of, and the team we are all a part of.” --Mark Ballstaedt, IT Director

“One aspect of our company that really stands out to me is our dedication to continuing the development and training of our employees. I have never worked for a company that offers so many opportunities to learn and develop your skills. I have taken advantage of many of these programs and they have helped me tremendously to gain the professional skills and traits that any employer would be looking for.” --Brian Petersen, Corporate Trainer

“What was I most excited about? The fact that 1-800 actually walked the walk. I’ve never worked for a company that has such a strong culture and undeviating loyalty to its associates and customers.” --Dustin Dipo, Call Center Manager

I worked at 1-800 CONTACTS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hard working people all around with high standards and high expectations but both are those are paid out back to employee by the company through events and other things like that

    Cons

Pay does not compete with other similar jobs but the benefits can sometimes make up for that.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at 1-800 CONTACTS (Draper, UT).

    Interview

First there is a phone interview that is about 20 minutes long. It consists mostly of the job description, company overview, benefits offered, and finishes with a couple behavioral questions. If you do well, then a face-to-face interview is scheduled. The in-person interview was a tad lengthy - over an hour and a half long - but was enjoyable and engaging. You begin by taking a skill test that tests your knowledge on basic Windows applications and shortcuts as well as utilizing the 1800 Contact website to gather information. That is followed by a simple one paragraph typing test. You then sit in with a current employee that is in the position you are applying for so that you can get a good feel for the position first hand. Afterwards, you get a tour of the beautiful facility. It ends with two face-to-face interviews. The entire process was a very positive experience!

    • Most of the questions were based off of my resume and were behavioral type questions being answered in the star format.   Answer Question
