I worked at 500 Startups full-time (Less than a year)
The company has a culture of having fun, get sh*t done and it certainly lived up to that. My experience was great and as a fairly junior position, I had the chance to work directly with upper management. Great place to learn and grow in the tech world.
The team's work is fairly siloed and did not get to interact much with people from other teams.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 500 Startups in December 2016.
I applied online via AngelList and their company website (Google form including video submission). A few days later I was contacted to have a video chat interview, we talked for an hour. The questions were thorough and you could tell they really cared about getting to know you and hiring quality people. The company has a great reputation in general and the interview process held that reputation up. The only negative point was the waiting period after the video interview, it was only after a week of waiting + a follow up that I received a rejection email. However that doesn't reflect so much on the company as me as a candidate; overall still a positive experience.
