I have been working at A-Max Insurance Services full-time
Hard work gets recognized eventually.
Recently several employees who completed 5, 10 and 15 years were felicitated with awards for their loyalty and service... Was a great feeling to see this recognition... (Employees were allowed to bring their family member along, again awesome feeling to see them getting recognized for their contribution)
- Top Performers for the Year get rewarded every year, with awards and bonus and a whole lot of bragging rights..
- I've seen promotions mostly from within the organization which is good for those looking for a long term career opportunity..
- Opportunities are there, you just have to grab them, stop complaining, no company is perfect, instead of whining, need to look for ways to winning..
401K would be nice to have
Tuition Reimbursement would be great - although there is flexibility when you want to go to school which is good.
Advice to Management
- Management has started to get more involved with grassroots and is now paying more attention to what employees want. That is a very positive step - keep it up ..
I applied online. I interviewed at A-Max Insurance Services (Dallas, TX) in August 2017.
Fairly typical interview process. Pre-screen call, initial in person, second in person interview with a senior executive, then the final. was a panel interview with the owners. Everybody was very nice. All three of the in-person interviews themselves were a positive experience. There were, however several red flags. Keep in mind this was an interview for a department head (learning & development) that reported directly to the COO:
1) Department heads are required to "clock in and out" using their phone each day.
2) Only five days of PTO are offered during the first year (unknown for subsequent years)
3) I had to reach out to them directly (twice) in order to receive word that I was not selected.
4) The recruiter was not able to provide any feedback as to why I was not selected. While not required by any stretch, this is a very common professional courtesy - particularly for senior leaders.
5) She committed to obtaining feedback and sending it to me in writing... this never happened.
The company is growing at a rapid rate which is indicative of an organization doing something right. How they treat their candidates, and employees, however, remains stuck in a time long since past.
