    I worked at A.R.E. full-time

    Pros

-Kids are interesting and generally well behaved.
-Plenty of opportunities to make some lifelong high quality friends.
    -Outdoor nature setting is heavenly.
    -Roles are flexible.
-Many opportunities to design your own curriculum for the campers.
-Easy to get into leadership positions if you show the capability and willingness.
-Get to become a part of a very long-running fun and meaningful community.
    -Room and board are included.
    -The food is generally top-notch.

    Cons

-The pay is crap, even for a summer camp.
-Some of the buildings are dilapidated.
-Lot's of gossip. Pretty standard for a summer camp.
-The main ARE contingent in Virgina Beach seems to not take the summer camp seriously.

    Advice to Management

-Pay your employees more. Your employees will become more motivated and dedicated. You will gain access to a higher quality employee pool and increase staff retention. This is practically the only reason I cannot work there any more.
    -Upgrade all your dilapidated buildings.
