I worked at AAMC full-time (More than 5 years)
Dynamic, kind, and ethical CEO; great leadership team with one or two exceptions; best benefits in the DC area, including free health coverage; competitive pay; caring/supportive colleagues; smart-as-a-whip coworkers; flexible telework; tuition assistance; gorgeous new building. Overall: Recommend if a position is a good fit for 2-5 years - but look elsewhere to advance
Moving up is EXTREMELY difficult and department-specific; culture places HEAVY value on PhD/MD degrees; senior directors are a mixed bag - some are fabulous while others are a waste of association money; culture of perfectionism (make a typo and you'll get 5 emails back)
Advice to Management
Deal with the bad apples BEFORE they do something so egregious they are fired - bad eggs drain morale of the good eggs LONG before they are shown the door
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AAMC.
interviewed with two people very nice almost a conversation. Went very well. I appreciated that they read and prepared for the interview as I did. Made me feel like they genuinely were interested in me as a person.
There was no negotiation.
