ACR Homes – Why Work With Us?

ACR works alongside employees toward their educational and career goals, giving them an opportunity to boost their resume, make a difference, and earn a letter of recommendation!

What you Need to Know

  • All employees are eligible for internships
  • Internships are 6 months long and can be started at any point during employment, once initial training is completed
  • Employees must maintain their direct care requirement (minimum 10 shifts/month) throughout their internship
  • Internships combine your direct care experience with a topic or special project chosen to relate to your field of study or interest
  • Interns have the option of attending Internship Seminars with Jim Nelson, CEO of ACR, to receive a letter of recommendation from him!

The internship program is designed to be flexible and self-led, making it possible to be a Direct Care Professional, Intern, and Student all at the same time. Interns completing the program will walk away with a well written paper that can be used in a portfolio for future applications to educational programs or work. Use this internship as an educational, hands-on experience that will set you apart from all of the others competing with you in your field of interest!

Core Values Statement:
It is ACR’s core belief that all human life is intrinsically valuable. The value of life is not diminished because a person is disabled, unborn or near the end of life. Value is not determined by whether the person is independent or totally dependent on others. It is not based on productivity or on physical or intellectual potential or accomplishments. Value is not dependent on whether a person has family relationships or friendships. It is not contingent on being wanted, loved or admired. Human life is intrinsically valuable and worthy of dignity and respect simply because it exists.

Our core values statement hangs on the wall in all of our offices and group homes.

About ACR
Voted #1 Workplace by Employees.

Welcome to the ACR Homes website. We are proud to say that ACR was voted the #1 workplace by employees in both 2014 and 2016 in the Star Tribune Top Workplaces survey. This is the third year ACR employees have participated in this survey. In those three years ACR has been named the number one large company in Minnesota twice! What does it mean for ACR to be named the top workplace in Minnesota? It means that we, by which we mean direct care staff, supervisors, RNs, office and maintenance employees, and all of the other people employed at ACR, have created the best workplace in Minnesota. Being named top workplace is a direct result of the high quality work and positivity everyone exemplifies throughout ACR.

ACR has an outstanding reputation for providing consistent, high-quality services. Our commitment to quality requires high standards for staffing, with a thorough and detailed hiring and training process and excellent supervision and support.

I have been working at ACR Homes part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I’ve been working for ACR Homes for about 1 1/2 years and have loved every second of it. I’ve loved developing relationships with residents, their families, and staff. I started my position as a DCP during my time as an undergraduate and gained great patient care experience for nursing school. As nursing school has a very demanding schedule, I’ve been so thankful that ACR Homes has been very reasonable with my busy life! ACR Homes has competitive pay, flexible hours, and has prepared me for my career path in nursing. My residents are one of my greatest blessings in my life.

    Cons

You will get attached to residents and never want to leave

I applied online. I interviewed at ACR Homes.

    Interview

Applied and was offered an interview. At the interview they do a series of personality tests and then you meet with HR for the interview. I have heard that only about 10% of those interviewed are hired.
