They have on-site staff, so you can drop in and discuss concerns. Their central office is also accessible via phone or e-mail and was always responsive to inquiries or requests for help, e.g. how to find participating docs on their insurance plan. Everyone tried to keep the employees informed about work issues.
They were really slow to get out the materials when we changed health insurance companies, although they knew it was coming months in advance.
They are also limited by their contract with the US Government in what they really know and what they can say.
Advice to Management
Active duty and civil service employees can compete for awards and recognition. Contractors are just as motivated by public praise as those groups. Celebrate and reward good performance and make it public!
