Company Updates

  • KIDstruction Week 2019 has come to a close and it was a success thanks to the generosity of our associates! Together, we raised $5,355 for children receiving life-saving treatments at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Through ARCO's Charitable Match Program, that amount was doubled to a total of $10, 710 donated!

  • Rather explore a coral reef than spend another day in the office? Us too. That’s why ARCO created our Sabbatical Program. For every five years that an employee works for ARCO, they get to take a paid, one-month vacation (in addition to their standard vacation days). They also receive $5000 to cover the expenses of anywhere they might want to travel. Where will you take your sabbatical?

ARCO – Why Work For Us?

ARCO's goal has been the same as it was when we founded the company 26 years ago - to be the best design/build contractor in the industry and to serve our clients with expert skill and high integrity.

Since 1992, ARCO has grown from a single office in St. Louis, Missouri to an industry leader with 17 offices and hundreds of employees coast to coast. As the 15th largest design/build general contractor in the U.S., ARCO offers the strength and presence of a national builder with the personalized attention of a small company. With more than 4,000 successful projects spanning 48 states in our portfolio, we have developed the industry-specific expertise it takes to provide the best, most cost-effective, single-source solutions and add value to every project.

As a leader in the design/build industry, we know that the best work requires the best talent – that’s why we are always looking for the best and brightest to join our team of experts.

At ARCO, our associates are our greatest asset, and we treat them that way. Our work hard, play hard culture is not only award-winning, but it’s also a vital part of our success. From month-long, paid sabbaticals to mentoring programs to an unmatched profit sharing plan, we are dedicated to creating a workplace in which associates are valued and empowered. We pride ourselves in being an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and are commited to making ARCO not just a great place to work, but the best place to work!

From Project Managers to Interns and Co-ops, we have built a workplace where every associate has the opportunity for personal and professional growth from day one. Our unique business model aims to foster entrepreneurship, giving you the tools needed to build your career. Each of our 17 offices has been opened by ARCO associates who have demonstrated a high level of success and leadership.

“Working at ARCO is very different than being an intern anywhere else. You learn a ton… they’re really invested in you being able to do as much as a normal project manager.” -James Halliday

No coffee-fetching or paper-filing. ARCO interns and co-ops work side-by-side with project managers, gaining immediate hands-on experience, in-office and on job sites. We intentionally train every participant with full, working knowledge of the ARCO design-build methodology so that when it’s time for you to enter the workforce, you’ll be way ahead of the game.

If it were your job to see the world, where would you go?

Working hard to play hard is an essential part of the culture at ARCO. Our Sabbatical program offers associates a month-long paid leave of absence in addition to their standard vacation time for every five years of full-time employment.

Our Sabbatical program gives you the opportunity to spend an extended period with their families and to pursue life-long dreams, particularly for travel, which may not otherwise be possible. Throughout the program, our associates have visited more than 30 countries on six different continents, and have returned to work refreshed (and with some pretty incredible stories).

ARCO is dedicated to giving back.

Whether it’s a coat drive or an enterprise-wide fundraising campaign for cancer research, ARCO provides associates with easy and fun ways to make a positive impact in communities across the world. ARCO also encourages associates to get involved with the charities of their choice by offering five days of paid leave each year to perform volunteer work and through a dollar-for-dollar matching gift program.

I have been working at ARCO full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I started out at ARCO as an intern and was brought on full time shortly after. ARCO has given me every chance to succeed and I love telling people about this awesome place I work at. As a recent grad, I get asked pretty frequently, "but do you actually like it?" And I can honestly answer with an ecstatic, "Heck, yes!" Even as an intern, ARCO gave me the chance to work on projects that were not only fun and interesting but projects that mattered.

Now as a full-time employee, I have taken on many projects and was given a lot of responsibility right away! If you are detail-oriented, enjoy a challenge, and love working with possibly the friendliest group of people that I have ever met, you will love ARCO! So thankful for my internship that led me here.

    Cons

None really (I mean, have you seen the benefits this place offers? So cool!). Just be prepared to work hard, take on many tasks at once, and be a bit of a perfectionist.

    Advice to Management

    None! Glad I chose ARCO.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ARCO (Saint Louis, MO) in March 2018.

    Interview

The interview process was very long. I had five total interviews split into two separate days. They did not do group interviews, but about an hour of time with each person. The people I interviewed with were great, but there was an air of falseness around them. It seemed like the pleasantries were forced, like they were talking through a screen of false happiness. Furthermore, they kept talking up their benefits (which are amazing, btw), but after the initial discussion of this with the HR person on the phone, I don't think it should have been brought up. It almost felt like they were trying to convince me of how awesome of a place it is, but this made me suspicious that they were hiding something.

Also, they gave me a printed packet which contained all of their benefits, then I didn't hear from them for weeks. I've never been given a benefits packet at an interview before. Needless to say, it lead me to believe that I was successful in the interview. I was not. I think they shouldn't hand this out, it's very misleading.
