Sysmex NZ provides a very friendly environment that encourages cooperation and growth. Employees are encouraged to spend 10% of their time on R&D projects and to further themselves with training which is often sponsored by the company.
One of the downsides of the company, is the 'government department'-like mentality that sometimes rears its ugly head. On several occasions managers have avoided making 'hard' decisions with regard to conflicting personalities. This also seems to be seen in the 'nicely-nicely' attitude taken with regard to employee management where things are made very vague at times because the managers don't want to get too personal or be seen to be mean.
Advice to Management
Toughen up the middle-managers. Get them to earn their pay bay managing people more effectively.
