    Advice to Management

I worked for Acadiasoft as an intern in the summer of 2018 and overall had a great experience. Everyone is very friendly, and the company is still relatively small, so I was interacting with the CEO and other top management on a weekly basis. The work I was given was engaging and interesting. I did not have any prior experience in the financial services industry, and my superiors did a great job at getting me up to speed with the nature of the business and the role Acadia plays in the market. I felt comfortable approaching anyone if I had a question about something or needed more clarity on a project. Interns are broken up into groups at the beginning of the summer and given a summer-long project to work on, with deliverables every few weeks and finally a presentation at the end. Employees hosted lunch and learns every week in which they presented specifically to interns in an effort to better educate them on the derivatives industry, which was incredibly knowledgable and definitely helped me get a better grasp on the industry and the financial crisis. Being a company with global offices is also a plus. Pretty good pay for interns at a smaller company, too. Relaxed workplace atmosphere and friendly, ready-to-help coworkers made my time at Acadia very enjoyable and a great overall experience.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AcadiaSoft (Norwell, MA).

    Interview

2 weeks, 1 phone screen, 1 tech phone screen, and then an in-person interview. The first person I met at the in-person interview was very rude.

The second session was 2 guys, one a manager who was really young to be a manager, and the other guy was just a senior tech guy. I was the oldest guy in the room, and I can guarantee I had more experience ... combined ... of all the people who interviewed me that day. There was one tech question I got asked, but I didn't even comprehend what the manager was trying to say.

Ultimately the result came back that I wasn't a good fit. That's too bad because I could have been a real asset to them.

    Interview Questions

    • The one technical question they asked, I couldn't even figure out what he was going with. There are a dozen other technical things I could have done, maybe they could have asked me several other questions I could have answered.   Answer Question
