I have been working at Accion full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Support from top down! The Accion East NY CEO is a true gentleman and a great example for the company.
    Great environment and culture.
Everyone is committed to the mission - regardless of level.
Lots of transparency, updates on work and future plans.
I feel very much an important part of the team.
    Great flexibility.
"Accionistas" (what employees are called) are treated very well.
Snacks, coffee, tea is ordered frequently.
Accomplishments are celebrated along with birthdays, holidays and special events.
Lots of work life/home life balance.
    Fully covered benefits plans.

    Cons

Non profit so watching the dollar is important.
Downtown location is not the nicest area.
Office is somewhat cramped in work spaces.
Some employees take advantage of flexibility and create additional stress for others in balancing work.
Since the company is so small, no real opportunities for advancing in your area - you'd have to move to another department, but since people don't really leave too often, the moves are not so easy to wait for.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.
Keep the lines of communication open.
This is a great place to work!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Accion.

    Interview

One phone call to discuss what the company did and the starting salary expectations for the position, then set up an in-person interview. I met with two very nice employees, passionate and proud about their work. As someone inexperienced in interview situations, it was a relaxed and low-stress environment. A week later they emailed informing me the position had been filled.
