Accudata Systems was founded by Rich Johnson and Terry Dickson in 1982. Today, more than three decades later, we are Texas’ leader in IT consulting, security, and systems integration.

  • The Advisory Services Practice leverages industry best practices and operational frameworks to improve IT processes, enhance project and program management, align IT strategy with business objectives, and maximize IT management’s contribution to organizational goals.
  • The Enterprise Applications Practice offers implementation and migration solutions for enterprise applications, ranging from Microsoft advanced infrastructure products to Windows desktop solutions. This group also designs and deploys the latest technologies that enable the mobile workforce.
  • The Data Center Infrastructure Practice provides consolidated storage, compute, and network platforms and solutions that enable virtualization, cloud, and converged infrastructure strategies.
  • The Network Practice architects dynamic, resilient, and high-performance network foundations to support rich media and application data traversing wireless, cloud, and data center networks.
  • The Security and Mobility Practice provides solutions to secure data, applications, and infrastructure by architecting comprehensive security solutions across the data center, physical and virtual environments, mobile workforces, and cloud computing.
  • The Unified Communications Practice provides solutions that connect people, information, and teams. They enable comprehensive and effective collaboration through voice, video, and mobility technologies.
  • The Assessment and Compliance Practice leverages recognized standards, experience, and a risk-based approach to provide strategic and IT security consulting for risk management, regulatory compliance, cost reduction, and optimum security. Services include technical assessments, compliance solutions, and remediation.
  • The Managed Services Practice provides hosted and cloud-based solutions for proactive management of critical IT operations at a higher quality of IT service and a lower cost. Solutions include colocation, network operations management and administration, service desk, security threat and log monitoring, vulnerability management, hosted email, and cloud backup.

Rich Johnson and Terry Dickson founded Accudata Systems in July 1982. Their first project was for Able Electric – Terry prospected and both were consultants working on the project. There have been a lot of proud moments for the partners over the years: for Rich, it was reaching 100 employees and the realization that Accudata was helping employees support their families across Texas; for Terry, it’s the company’s charity work with MD Anderson Cancer Center that has meant so much.

Now, 35 years later, Rich and Terry are proud that the company has grown to nearly 200 employees, yet maintained a family-like culture. They’ve been able to maintain that culture for over three decades because, according to Rich, “every employee contributes in their own way and is critical to the success of the company.” Terry emphasizes that Accudata does the right thing for its customers and its employees get that. The pair leads by example, adhering to the same principles they did when it was just the two of them.

How do Rich and Terry describe themselves in one word? Rich is dedicated and Terry is patient – and both describe their journey to get to where they are today as one fueled by passion and hard work.

    Pros

    During my time at Accudata, I was overwhelmed by the positive feedback constantly being provided throughout the organization. No good deed goes unnoticed. The leadership team and approach to running a business at Accudata is something every company should strive towards. The on-boarding process is seamless and smooth, great health benefits and competitive pay. You really do feel as if you are part of a team at this company.

    Cons

    Very fast paced at times. It's consulting, so you deal with many different customers/clients and personalities - some good, some not so good.

    Advice to Management

    The management team is absolutely incredible. Patrick Vardeman, the CEO, truly cares about every single employee and his door is open to anyone.

    I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Accudata Systems, Inc. (Houston, TX).

    Interview

    First contact with recruiter with preliminary questions and pointless "personality questionnaire". Then an interview with a department head. Have not heard back from anyone in a month the position is still open. The company seems good (fair pay for position and relaxed culture) but this occurrence of "ghosting" changed my opinion on them.
