Company Updates

  • A recent study published in the Cureus Journal of Medical Science demonstrated the impact of Acelity’s epidermal harvesting system for patients – and called it a “win-win” in the wound care treatment category.

Missouri University researchers use autograft harvesting to treat chronic wounds

Chronic wound sufferers were able to get skin grafts in an outpatient clinic-all through a Missouri University research team's work. The researchers used the Acelity Cellutome Epidermal Harvesting System. It is an automated, precise and reproducible process that offers minimal pain and less donor-site trauma.

Acelity – Why Work For Us?

At Acelity, our vision is to restore people's lives.  Our innovative and complementary product portfolio delivers value through solutions that speed healing and lead the industry in quality, safety and customer experience. Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Acelity employs nearly 5,000 people around the world.

Acelity and its subsidiaries are a global advanced wound care company that leverages the strengths of Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) and Systagenix Wound Management, Limited. The combined companies demonstrate a rich history of product innovation for more than six decades.

  • 1976:KCI is founded by Dr. Jim Leininger, an emergency room physician, who saw the value of kinetic therapy in dealing with spinal cord injuries, multiple trauma and severe pulmonary conditions. KCI started as a small operation in a 1-bedroom apartment in San Antonio with 13 employees and the RotoRest™ Therapy System. KCI commercialized the first ever Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) technology, V.A.C.® Therapy, that revolutionized the way caregivers treat a wide variety of wounds.  Since its introduction in 1995, V.A.C. ® Therapy has been selected as the treatment of choice for more than 10 million wounds around the globe.
  • 2008: Systagenix is founded, formerly the wound-care segment of Johnson & Johnson.
  • 2013: Current CEO Joe Woody leads the Systagenix acquisition, acquired by KCI.
  • 2014: Joe leads efforts to integrate KCI, LifeCell (acquired in 2008 and sold to Allergan in 2017) and Systagenix into Acelity to create a global corporation devoted to advancing the science of healing. These transformational acquisitions diversified our product portfolio and increased our ability to offer best-in-class product offerings across the entire wound care continuum. With approximately $1.4 billion in revenue, Acelity is the undisputed leader in negative pressure wound therapy and the market leader in collagen dressings with products available in more than 90 countries.
  • 2017: New President and CEO, Andy Eckert, named

Advanced Wound Therapeutics (AWT): Conducted by KCI and Systagenix and focused on creating innovative healing solutions, including advanced devices, wound dressings and epidermal harvesting to help heal patients suffering from traumatic, surgical or chronic wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers.

Our Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
Acelity’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment reflects our ongoing dedication to our vision to restore people’s lives. Our vision not only promotes a culture based on patient focus, but a culture of giving back and supporting the local communities in which employees live and work. That is why our nearly 5,000 global employees receive 16 hours of paid time to volunteer in service of helping others.

Community Outreach & Support
In our hometown of San Antonio where Acelity is headquartered, we support organizations like Communities In Schools and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Nationally, we are focused on making a greater impact in the lives of families facing serioushealth issues, the military and their families, environmental stewardship and those impacted by disaster and crisis.  We also provide our V.A.C.® Therapy free of charge to more than 8,000 uninsured, low-income patients each year as part of the Acelity CHARITY CARE LOANER™ Program.

Our CSR Pillars

Families Facing Serious Health Issues
We support various diabetes organizations and nonprofits who provide free accommodations in service of patients and families navigating serious health challenges.

Military and Their Families
Through our partnership with MVPvets, we help make the transition from military to civilian life a little easier for service members who are looking for meaningful employment after courageously serving our country.

Disaster and Crisis Support
Over the last year, because of our strong relationships across the continuum of care and our relationships with local, on-the-ground organizations, Acelity quickly responded with product donations and customer support to help restore the lives of people impacted by global tragic disasters.  Each year we donate millions of dollars and products to help people who faced disasters and crises in areas like Boston, San Bernardino, Japan, Paris, Ecuador, Brussels and Orlando.

Environmental Stewardship

We take seriously our responsibility to preserve the natural resources of the communities in which we live and work. As careful stewards of these resources, we continually strive to incorporate measures within the development, manufacture and delivery of our products and therapies that reduce the overall environmental impact of our process and our products. For example, we ensure the selection and deployment of fuel efficient vehicles within our service fleet, select and use ecologically friendly cleaning materials in our global service centers, select suppliers geographically placed to minimize delivery distances, utilize renewable resources in the design and manufacturing of our products and in our daily business practices, and facilitate source reduction and waste minimization best practices throughout our manufacturing process and waste disposal activities, including recycling whenever possible.

Industry Advocacy
Through our active role in Washington with the medical device trade association, AdvaMed, we have regularly advocated on important issues. We recently supported the 21st Century Cures Act, which creates an expedited pathway for breakthrough technology, bringing new hope to patients in critical need.

Our Promise
We will continue to act in a manner that minimizes the environmental impact of our business operations, actively encourages support of charitable and educational activities in the community, and maintains the highest standards of integrity, leadership and behavior in all that we do. In doing this, we demonstrate our company’s shared values of being United, Authentic, Purposeful and Courageous.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Acelity (San Antonio, TX) in August 2015.

Great interview. Positive feedback from all 5 interviews.
My advice to African Americans applying for highly visible positions, Don't Waste Your Time, you will not receive an offer! While interviewing, they will basically verbally, hire you. Once you leave the interview and follow-up per their instruction, it's as though you never existed.
