Our Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
Acelity’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment reflects our ongoing dedication to our vision to restore people’s lives. Our vision not only promotes a culture based on patient focus, but a culture of giving back and supporting the local communities in which employees live and work. That is why our nearly 5,000 global employees receive 16 hours of paid time to volunteer in service of helping others.
Community Outreach & Support
In our hometown of San Antonio where Acelity is headquartered, we support organizations like Communities In Schools and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Nationally, we are focused on making a greater impact in the lives of families facing serioushealth issues, the military and their families, environmental stewardship and those impacted by disaster and crisis. We also provide our V.A.C.® Therapy free of charge to more than 8,000 uninsured, low-income patients each year as part of the Acelity CHARITY CARE LOANER™ Program.
Our CSR Pillars
Families Facing Serious Health Issues
We support various diabetes organizations and nonprofits who provide free accommodations in service of patients and families navigating serious health challenges.
Military and Their Families
Through our partnership with MVPvets, we help make the transition from military to civilian life a little easier for service members who are looking for meaningful employment after courageously serving our country.
Disaster and Crisis Support
Over the last year, because of our strong relationships across the continuum of care and our relationships with local, on-the-ground organizations, Acelity quickly responded with product donations and customer support to help restore the lives of people impacted by global tragic disasters. Each year we donate millions of dollars and products to help people who faced disasters and crises in areas like Boston, San Bernardino, Japan, Paris, Ecuador, Brussels and Orlando.
Environmental Stewardship
We take seriously our responsibility to preserve the natural resources of the communities in which we live and work. As careful stewards of these resources, we continually strive to incorporate measures within the development, manufacture and delivery of our products and therapies that reduce the overall environmental impact of our process and our products. For example, we ensure the selection and deployment of fuel efficient vehicles within our service fleet, select and use ecologically friendly cleaning materials in our global service centers, select suppliers geographically placed to minimize delivery distances, utilize renewable resources in the design and manufacturing of our products and in our daily business practices, and facilitate source reduction and waste minimization best practices throughout our manufacturing process and waste disposal activities, including recycling whenever possible.
Industry Advocacy
Through our active role in Washington with the medical device trade association, AdvaMed, we have regularly advocated on important issues. We recently supported the 21st Century Cures Act, which creates an expedited pathway for breakthrough technology, bringing new hope to patients in critical need.
Our Promise
We will continue to act in a manner that minimizes the environmental impact of our business operations, actively encourages support of charitable and educational activities in the community, and maintains the highest standards of integrity, leadership and behavior in all that we do. In doing this, we demonstrate our company’s shared values of being United, Authentic, Purposeful and Courageous.
Practice Interviewing – Don’t over estimate your ability to ad lib; know exactly what you are going to say about your strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Be prepared to provide specific examples to behavior-based questions.
Research the Company - Hiring managers are always impressed with candidates who have done their ‘homework.’ Learn as much as you can about Acelity's transformation with the combined companies, our vision/mission/values, and recent news coverage to prepare for your interview. Also, be prepared to answer honestly why you want to work for us.
Be Confident - Your job is to sell yourself and your accomplishments as well as why you would be the best fit for the position. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Know what the line is and be confident. Maintain eye contact with the people interviewing you.
Listen Carefully – Pay attention to what the interviewer is asking and answer questions precisely and thoughtfully. Do not be verbose. Articulate your answers in a concise manner and ask for clarification if needed.
Wrapping up – Ask the interviewer the questions you have prepared. Restate the position and reiterate your interest in it. Thank the interviewer for their time and consideration and send out “Thank You” letter or email as soon as possible – within 24 hours.
I have been working at Acelity full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Love our products and how we heal patients. We have first class products that really do a great job of healing patients.
Cons
Dealing with Insurance companies and trying to get products to patients. They make you jump through so much to provide services.
Advice to Management
Work side by side with your reps each week. Walk in their shoes and they will fight for you and drive sales. Some DM's do not get their hands dirty.
Application
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Acelity in January 2018.
Interview
Overall a great experience! I had one phone interview, about three weeks of silence and then was called for an interview with the DM and then a follow up interview with the DM and another Territory Sales Manager. The last two interviews were set up really quickly. The interviewers were very relatable and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. I knew I loved this company the minute I got to the face to face interview.
