I have been working at Acentech full-time
The best thing about Acentech is it's people. Smart, savvy, hard-working, yet surprisingly (!) humble and easy to get along with. Plus, many have continued to pursue their passions outside of work, whether they are semi-pro musicians or avid jocks, or artisans. The other great things about the firm include the ESOP plan, matching 401K and very generous health insurance benefits.
In general, if you need time off and/or need to work from home for the occasional personal reason, it's allowed. But management definitely prefers employees to work in the office. Having said that, people working remotely are very easy to reach and quick to respond. It's a very busy office on all levels. If you are energetic and ambitious, this could be a good fit for you. If you are someone who likes to just 'clock in and clock out' then I would look elsewhere.
Advice to Management
Consider more flexible hours. If employees are putting in extra hours during the week, why not offer them half days off on Fridays? It would also alleviate the need for being absent during the week for doc appointments, child care and the like.
