Advice to Management
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Achates Power (Detroit, MI) in January 2016.
HR set up a phone interview with the hiring manager after submitting my resume online. I then had an hour long interview with the manager going into detailed, technical specifics on what I had previously worked on and how would you go on designing the components. Then had a follow up discussion with HR and a week later had an on-site interview scheduled. On-site interview consisted of a 45 min presentation on educational background, work history, different projects you have worked on, achievements etc. for a panel followed by 15 min Q&A. This was then followed by four, 30 min 1-on-1 interviews with the individuals which was more of me asking them a lot of questions.
It looked like a great place to work at, with great co-workers and I was really looking forward to joining them.
Being a strong research oriented company and dealing with a lot of Intellectual Property related stuff which is bread and butter for the company they are looking for highly independent, experienced, research oriented scientists/ engineers.
