I worked at Active Wellness full-time (More than a year)
Active Wellness is an industry leader that cares deeply about their employees, members, and clients. If you work hard and are passionate about helping your teammates and the members there is plenty of room for growth within the growing company. The leadership team is comprised of caring individuals that push the industry in innovation and creativity. You have the flexibility to operate and create within the guidelines of the company.
Bill McBride gave me my start and through the years has given me every opportunity to grow within the organization. His leadership and ability to challenge people while supporting them along the way helped me grow beyond what I thought was possible at times.
As with most companies in the space, finding a solid work/life balance especially since 2008 has been a challenge. As with any start-up company that is growing staff is asked to wear several different hats.
Advice to Management
While Active Wellness is a growing, energetic company I would encourage leadership to find ways to slow down at times and enjoy the ride. It is all too common for companies to focus on growth as a new company that sometimes you don't appreciate the journey that it takes to get there.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Active Wellness in December 2017.
The interview process was pretty fast, except for when it came time to get back to me. I moved through four rounds of interviews with the management team within the very short period of time (ten days).Upon that, I heard nothing about their decision for more than three weeks. This would not be a big deal if they did not rush me as a candidate, and if one of their senior leaders was not the one who promised to get back to me (I never heard back from this person)
Advice to management and HR-- Not everyone is desperate for the job, so please re- think how you treat your candidates.
