I applied through an employee referral The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Ad Hoc (DC) (United States) in Dec 2022

    Interview

I reached out to a colleague to be referred for this role. I spoke with the internal recruiter initially, who told me about the company but nothing about the role. Didn't ask me any screening questions. I was scheduled for the first interview with another director-level employee for a week and a half later (seems long). That interview was fine, but all the questions were about how to build moral with the design team and how I would specifically evaluate the design team. I was a bit taken off-guard; I expected questions for this role to be more about leadership processes, approach and style, and not specifics on how to fix a dysfunctional team, which are very tactical in nature. (I would like to have prepared if that's what they were most interested in.) Even so, the interview seamed to go well and I hit it off with the director so was surprised to get an email the next week saying they were not advancing me to the next round.

How will you evaluate success in our team? How can you improve moral for a team with toxic clients and no ability to meet regularly with each other?
